For the first time ever, a major motion picture has been translated into a Native American language. Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope will premier this summer, and will be dubbed into Navajo. Manuelito Wheeler, director of the Navajo Nation Museum, said he first came up with the idea 13 years ago as a way to preserve the Navajo language (which is spoken by approximately 170,000 people). The finished movie, which will include English subtitles, will premier on July 4th in Window Rock, on the Navajo Nation.  The film will be shown again in September at the Navajo Nation Fair.
