Singapore Police Force Focus on Forensic Interpreting

SingaporePoliceThe Singapore Police Force has decided to include forensic interpreting workshops as part of their training program.  Police officers will learn how mistakes in a multilingual courtroom could potentially be the difference between life and death.

These workshops will be conducted by Sedat Mlayim, a professor at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia.  Mlayim has worked as a professional Interpreter and has years of experience in legal and police interpreting.  He also has a Masters degree in Social Science with a focus in Translating and Interpreting Studies.
