The Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey has ruled that non-English speaking DUI suspects must be provided instructions on the consequences of refusing a breath test in their native language.  The decision was close with a 4-3 vote.  New Jersey is the first state to initiate this requirement but it is likely other states will follow suit in the near future.

Police officers in New Jersey will now be able to provide non-English speaking DUI suspects with printed copies of the appropriate instructions and warnings, as well as recorded translations for 10 languages.
