CONGO CLINTONOn Monday, August 10th, a French-speaking Congolese student asked Hilary Clinton, through an Interpreter, what “Mr. Clinton” thinks about a foreign policy issue.  As it turns out, the student was actually trying to ask what President Obama thought.  Clearly not happy to be overshadowed by her husband, Clinton responded to the student’s question rather harshly. “My husband is not the secretary of state,” said Clinton.  “I am.  You ask my opinion, I will tell you my opinion.  I am not going to be channeling my husband.”

The now infamous misinterpretation, and Clinton’s harsh reaction to it, has caused a media frenzy worldwide.  This is a perfect example of how a simple interpreting mistake can have drastic consequences for all parties involved.
